Mel Nicoll - Our New Development Officer
26 February 2026 We are delighted to announce that Mel Nicoll has been appointed and started today as our Development Officer. Mel will be supporting the board to progress the Trust's priorities and agreed projects. Mel will normally be available Tuesday to Thursday.

Accessibility Improvements at Dunkeld & Birnam Railway Station
5 February 2026 Train at The Hermitage, approaching Dunkeld and Birnam on 14 November 2024 at 1036hrs Summary Congratulations and thank-you to the Station Group (working with John Swinney, our local MSP) who have been instrumental in securing lighting and accessibility improvements, as part of a continuing process. Post Office Fundraiser Closed
Early 2025, the community were informed that the Post Office, next to St Mary's Church, in Birnam, was closing. In collaboration with the Community Council, various efforts were made by the Trust, to ensure our community would still have access to a Post Office. We would like to thank Khalid, owner of the Birnam Shop, for ensuring our community continues to enjoy Post Office services. Please support the new service. Changes to The Trustee Office Bearers
The first meeting of 2026 took place on 5th January. The following officer bearers were proposed and seconded. Alex Kettles - Secretary Stuart Paton - Treasurer James Jarvis - Chair Alex and James are new in post, Stuart is continuing as Treasurer. Also on the board we have the experience of John Gilruth and we are delighted to have Scott Robertson and Kerr Mackinnon join as trustees.

Heartland Cares is a new community-owned organisation created by the communities of Rannoch & Tummel, and Dunkeld & Birnam to deliver home care and other social care services locally.
