There seems to be confusion about what Dunkeld, Birnam and District Community Development Trust is and does and could do. The Trust is a small, registered charity with a current membership of 157 local people. There are six volunteer Trustees, meeting once a month, and one part-time staff member (currently vacant, as post is under recruitment).

Occasionally, when the community is enthused, bigger things are requested that take time to progress. Housing is an example of a big initiative that it has taken years of input from many people. Building on this input, the Trust this year commissioned a professional feasibility study to see if affordable housing on Birnam Park is technically and financially feasible.

Much of what the Trust does is more mundane. By being a constituted body, the Trust is able to assist small groups doing great things in the community. The groups can get on with making this a fabulous community, without the overhead of bureaucracy.

Amongst the initiatives that have recently been given assistance are:

Our first priority is to fill our part-time Development Officer post, to support the volunteer Trustees, the work of Trust and manage correspondence.
