Dunkeld and Birnam District Community Development Trust is inviting applications to the role of Trust Development Officer.
22 hours per week | £21 per hour | Self-employed contract
The Role
We are looking for a Development Officer to support the Board and partner groups to take this work forward. This role provides practical and organisational support to the Trust, helping to progress projects, work effectively with partners, communicate clearly with the community, and contribute to fundraising activity.
This is a part-time role (22 hours per week), worked flexibly by agreement. The postholder will be self-employed and will have access to an office base, with agreed days working from the office each week. Advice and support on setting up as self-employed will be available if needed.
The Development Officer will work closely with Trustees, each of whom holds lead
responsibility for specific projects or themes, and will report to the Chair of the Board, or
their nominated representative, who will provide support and oversight.
What You’ll Be Doing
Supporting the Board to progress the Trust’s priorities and agreed projects
Helping to develop and move forward key projects, including energy and housing work
Identifying funding opportunities and contributing to fundraising applications and reporting
Liaising with partner projects where the Trust holds or manages funds
Acting as a main point of contact for external organisations and enquiries
Supporting communication with the community, including social media and public
information
Helping to plan and support community engagement events
Managing correspondence and day-to-day communications
What We’re Looking For
We are keen to hear from people with a strong interest in community development. You
do not need to have done exactly this job before.
Essential Criteria
Experience of working with community groups, voluntary organisations, social enterprises or similar
Some experience of fundraising, such as helping with funding applications, reporting, or identifying funding opportunities
Good communication skills and confidence in dealing with a range of people
Ability to organise your own work, manage priorities and work independently
Basic digital skills (email, documents, and social media).
Desirable Criteria
Experience of community-led projects such as housing, energy, care or asset development
Experience of community engagement or consultation
Knowledge of the local area or experience of working in rural communities
Access to own transport an advantage
